Brief Bio

Born and raised in San Francisco, David Hawthorne moved his family to Fairfield in 1986. He has been in advertising and marketing since 1970, and has been studying Vedic astrology since 1988. He is the president of two local corporations, 5-Star Lists, Inc., (a mailing list company), and Astroview, Inc., (an astrological consulting company). He lives with his wife, Eileen, five miles north of Fairfield. They have three children, Bryan (age 22), an independent contractor with FPAC-TV, hawthorne direct, and 5-Starlists; Sara (age 19) a sophomore theater arts major at the University of Iowa; and Galen (age 13) who studies physics at Indian Hills Community College, while also attending Fairfield High School as a freshman.

David's Show - Headphones

As an acoustic guitar aficionado, each week on Headphones, I play the music of my favorite up-and-coming, little-known, and well-known singer-songwriters. The show also focuses on local talent and the groups and musicians who take the time to visit and play live concerts in Fairfield, at our favorite venues such as Cafe Paradiso, Morningstar Studio, Revelations Book Store, and the Old Armory.

The weekly show gives me a chance to put on some headphones, so I can enjoy these aspiring talented musicians, along with the top stars in the recording industry. In addition to folk and coffeehouse music, I also play a lot of blues and a range of other music that I hope our listening audience will enjoy as much as I do.

So, you're invited to grab a set of headphones and join me every Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m., right here on KRUU-LP, 100.1 FM, the voice of Fairfield, Iowa.
