Coffee, Tea and Teresa Storch on Lyrical Venus!

Teresa StorchMonday was national coffee day! So I've got a whole bunch of coffee songs for you today! And a couple tea songs, because T is also for Teresa Storch, who is coming to Fairfield for a house concert on Sunday Oct 5th, so we'll finish up with a set of songs from her new album, Come Clean!

(Thanks also to DJ Brandon Nelson for the coffee theme inspiration!)

(Email DJ Hum at LyricalVenus at gmail for details about the house concert.)

Happy 4th Birthday to Lyrical Venus!

Lyrical Venus 2011 InterviewsIt's kind of hard to believe it, but it's true, the Lyrical Venus Radio Hour is 4 years old! Four years of great music by and fun interviews with women musicians of many genres.  Thanks to the internet, the connections have been worldwide, whether it's me sending in the show from the multiple states and countries I've visited, or the artists calling in from around the world, or the wonderful listeners tuning in to kruufm.com from a distant corner of the planet!

As has been my annual tradition, I've collected a playlist of songs by the women I've interviewed in the past year, and I will play as many as I can this week, though it will probably need to be split in two parts, since there are 32! Tune in Tuesday from 9-10am Central.

Winter Songs
Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

Seeing as it's the night before Christmas Eve I'm going with a Christmas theme for this show. I've got a bunch more for you from the lovely Hotel Cafe complilation CD Winter Songs, featuring many of the talented ladies who have graced their stage in the past year. Plus other seasonal songs from traditional (like Priscilla Ahn singing Silent Night) to quirky (Dar William's Christians and the Pagans) - all sung by some of my favorite artists that I've played on the show this year.

Tune in every Tuesday from 9-10am for great music by female singer-songwriters!

The Rescues
break me out tonight i wanna see the
sun rising anywhere but here
come with me, this could be
the only chance we get, we gotta take it
don't do it now we'll never make it
lose this crowd, break me out
~ The Rescues, Break Me Out

The Rescues have been described as an Indie Supergroup - three talented singer-songwriters and friends with solo careers, brought together to perform at another friend's wedding only to discover that the whole was more than the sum of the parts. And when you've got good parts to begin with, well - get ready to have your socks rocked! I'm betting you'll love the soaring harmonies, driving beats and heart-swelling ballads these three pump out time and again on their album Crazy Ever After as much as I do!

Join me on Tuesday at 9am for an interview with the two female thirds of The Rescues - Adrianne and Kyler. (Love you too Gabe!)

Kris Delmhorst
For Easter week in Barranquilla, most folks go to the beach. After a couple glorious days in the water and only a few minor patches of sunburn, I've defintely got the sea fever - so this week's theme on Lyrical Venus is Ocean! Seems like when a singer-songwriter gets inspired by the sea, she gets really inspired - most of the songs this week are in pairs, written by the same artist. Two by Dar Williams, two by Ingrid Michaelson, two by Rachel Ries, two by Sharon Bousquet... you get the idea! Tune in Tuesday at 9 am and take a trip to the beach!
