Listen early for two selections from CD "Women of Africa" that is part of the Putumayo World Music collection.   Photo here shows artwork of Nicola Heindl, famous British artist who does most of the Putumayo CD covers.  From this CD you will hear Maria de Barros, sharing music from the island nation, Cape Verde, off the northwest coast of Africa. Also, you will hear singer Nawal from the island nation of Comoros, off the east coast of Africa.  Soon thereafter on this night, Single Gun Theory with lead singer, Jaqui Hunt (photo), takes the Fringe Toast stage.

In 1974, the experimental avant-gard electronic duo, Beaver & Krause, released their final LP, All Good Men (album cover photo) but few people ever heard much from this eccentric mix of musical styles.  You will hear two tracks: "All Good Men" and small masterpriece "Legend Days Are Over" with spoken word by an elderly Native American who laments the loss of her people's way of life.

Great way to get over the hump at mid-week.... Take the Fringe Toast Express on another intergalactic ride. Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia (photo) takes center stage in the first hour with rare tracks from the film sountrack to Zabriskie Point (circa 1970).  Vintage British blues from Blodwyn Pig and early '70s track from John Martyn's Solid Air LP. Grammy-nominated CD, Melted, by early '70s Philadelphia-area band, Wax (photo), sets the pace of this week's program.  Recorded in 1971 as a live (unmodified) studio session, this high-quality recording recently resurfaced and features the talents of friends of Fairfield, Rick Levy and Beau Jones (who recently passed away).

(See play list link at bottom.)  To launch Year 5 of the Fringe Toast Radio Show, DJ Andy Bargerstock intoduces ten new artists/groups along with 100% first-time tracks.  The Dutch-based Twelve Bar Blues Band opens with their 9-minute, "You Gonna Need My Help Someday," followed by "River Runs Deep" from Eric Clapton's (photo) 2010 CD release.  Late in the show, you will hear tracks fromsinger-songwriter Meiko's (photo) self-titled, first CD (2007) which has garnered kudos throughout the music industry.
