It's only fitting to bid farewell to the KRUU era with my former co-host Kathy DuBois and me spending an hour talking about our favorite subject-food.

Thanks to KRUU and everyone associated with the station for providing the platform for my/our soapbox.  We hope you enjoyed the show.

NOTE:  The LIVE Great Taste shows will continue at Green Building Supply the first Tuesday of every month.  Don't miss out on the fun.  The next show is Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 pm.

Also, Fairfield Media Center (FMC) will host the ongoing Great Taste weekly show.  Watch for new shows beginning in April on the Great Taste page of the FMC website (

See you there.

KTVO covers Steve Boss at Green Building Supply with his special FAIRfest food panel comprised of Iowa chef Matt Steigerwald, his pig farming friend, Carl Blake, plus Dean Goodale and Michael Havelka.

The local paper known as the Fairfield Ledger commented on the impressive stage and highlighted some of the food vendors. Click here for June 13 article.

It's a GREAT TASTE Holiday Party!

Mexican chocolateKalona Organics egg nogA festive hour of GREAT TASTE will charm your ears on this week's holiday show.  We'll talk party food and, of course, enjoy some too. Come by the studio, bring your favorite holiday fare and spend an hour enjoying the tastes of the season.

I'm bringing one of my absolute favorite finds of the year-organic egg nog made in Kalona.  It's extraordinary.  Also, a cold night deserves some delicious hot chocolate so we'll make a Mexican version.

Kathy should be back in time from Florida to add the genuine "hostess" advice necessary to make your family and friends gathering a great success.

Join us at the studio-7:00 PM CST for a very merry Great Taste..  If the location isn't convenient, catch the stream at live or the rebroadcast streaming Friday at 7 AM CST.

James Moore & Mike Love of the Beach Boys

Mike Love of the Beach Boys dropped by KRUU-FM for a little one-on-one with Planet Erstwild host James Moore.

The two talked about a whole host of topics from foreign policy to the Chevy Volt to collaborations with cousin Brian Wilson to Love's commitment to sustainability (Mayor Malloy is making him "Green Czar" for a day) to experiences with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, MIU and Transcendental Meditation to 48 years of endless summers on the road.

Love, who co-wrote and sang many of the Beach Boys hit songs, was in Fairfield for a press conference at the Convention Center to promote his upcoming concert on Labor Day, September 7th, at 1pm at the Fairfield Middle School. Seminal Iowa rockers The Nadas will open. The event is a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation, co-produced by the FACC and the FVCB.

Don Martin If you're a Mad Magazine fan, you know who Don Martin is. And if you know who Don Martin is, you'll know that he was a gorilla suit maniac. And if you, like him, were a gorilla suit maniac, this will be the happiest day of the year for you.

I really sohuld apologize for the short notice, but when it's gorilla-suit day that shouldn't stop anyone!!! In any case, NGSD is perhaps the most important holiday of the year. Ok, the second most important after Talk Like a Pirate Day.

So go get that gorilla suits out of the closet, put it on, go say "oogh" to your neighbor. Read more about this fabulous occassion: National Gorilla Suit Day homepage
