Hard to believe I have been doing the StevieMix dance show for 5 years. Come celebrate KRUU's birthday with us live from 5-Midnight today, Sept 30, 2011. We have a great DJ lineup. I will be on from 9-10PM. You can hear samples of the kind of music I'll be playing tonight from past KRUU shows (house, hip-hop, ghetto funk, mashups, electro and more), at www.steviemix.com . Also, thanks to KRUU DJ Mike Ragogna, I am featured in his latest Huffington Post article in the Seven from Stevie section which will be a monthly feature highlighting the best in dance music along with mixing tips for DJ's.

Once again A Reasonable Alternative will be graced with the presence of super-dancer and Fairfield Art of Dance Studio ownerTiffany Sanner. She's been a guest on the show once before, just prior to March's Local Music Dance Gala when she talked about her experience working on a contemporary partner dance with none other than ARA's own Michael Halley (me). The result was something truly special, a blending of dancers, music, and choreography forming a living piece full of feeling and beauty. Pictures and video can only hint at the experience of a live performance, yet of all the pictures taken of our performance this photo by Werner Elmer comes closest to capturing its essence.
Tiffany and I hope to create magic once again at the upcoming May Art Walk Art of Motion showcase on Friday, May 6th, 8:00 at the Sondheim Center. We won't have Darla Murphy's soaring vocals or Phil Rabalais' brilliant beats to guide us, but we've come up with something that we hope continues the evolution of our dancing partnership. This time we've picked a song from the Twilight: Eclipse move soundtrack, which led to a certain vampire theme for the performance. Without giving away too much detail I can say that the combination of music, costume, and vampire-inspired themes created a flowing, visually-interesting dance that we're both proud to have choreographed ourselves.
Tune in to hear some great music and meaningful discussion about the creative process of taking a dance performance from idea to reality. I'll play the song that we'll be dancing to on the 6th to whet your appetite and allow your imagination to run "wild as the wind blows." If you want to come to the Art Walk event to see nearly 30 original dance pieces of all styles, that's cool, too. :-)
Hilary Jordan and the Fairfield Dance Company return to the Sondheim Center for Fairfield Music: A Dance Gala for two performances, Thursday, March 3 and Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. The performances will be choregraphed to music made by local artists, which of course includes local women! This week on Lyrical Venus we'll hear a few of those songs.
For the second half we'll hear from LA-based artist Jen Hirsh. Her new album, Myself in Two, drops today! Her soulful blending of jazzy, folky pop will have you hooked on the first listen.
Tune in to Lyrical Venus from 9-10am Central for the two interviews!

A group of little birdees perch on the ledge seeing the infinite abyss before them. Up ahead, they notice those who jumped some time ago and have arisen in the flows of the ether. Together they hold hands and close their eyes to take a big step off and into the vastness of eternity.
This one's dedicated to the wild fun-loving bunch at CIC 69! May our wings grow strong and beautiful :-)
You will hear pumping electronic dance music, fit for the warehouses and festivals of the world. Bring your comfy shoes.

The last days of summer are leaving us. But they'll have to take me kicking and resisting arrest.
This week I've got the last dance of the summer, featuring music--chronologically--from the last 50 years.
The beat keeps going for the entire 60 minutes, from Jr. Walker & the Allstars through very modern remixes of Sly & the Family Stone, Eddie Grant, and an absolutely stunning, hypnotic production of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" to the most danceable tracks from MGMT ("Electric feel" and "Kids").
At 11:00 am (Thursday) and 8:00 am (Sunday) you can't exactly be dusting the all-night dance floor, but I do expect to see and hear some kitchen and office floors bouncing up and down to the 120 bpms.

The StevieMix Dance Show this Friday night from 9PM-10PM features Part 1 of our two night "Best Dance Songs of the Decade". Part 2 will be Friday February 19 from 9-10PM.
Artists features will be Darude, 50 Cent, Lady Gaga,M.I.A.,Katy Perry, Daft Punk, Usher, Rihanna, David Guetta and more.

This week StevieMix will have guest Fairfield's Aaron Shier live, mixing original tracks by his group, Les Boyz Electro from 9PM-10PM Friday, December 18.

Once upon a time...
Thirty-three of the strongest, bravest young persons of the world began a journey.
That journey would lead them to an important conclusion.
But that gem lacks importance to our tale.
Twelve weeks later, they were riding to Jupiter in a custom space shuttle in shape of a cube.
THIS IS THEIR STORY...
You are listening to P5K.
