Centripetal Sounds

Ace G Man
Yes, it's true, in about 48 hours I will be having my 3 year anniversary show, starting at a special 1 PM time slot! 3 hours to celebrate 3 years of great music and bent humor. You don't even have to have 10 cents, just access to KRUU via the airwaves or the internet. The stories will be provided by the live guests, including calls from two Iowa bands I love. The songs will tell a bit of a story, also, as I have gone through my collection and picked out tunes from the 1950's to the present day. All songs that I absolutely love for one reason or another. All songs that music lovers will certainly appreciate, from just about every kind of music there is. Here is a short list of artists, not the full slate: Frank Sinatra, Henry Mancini, Herb Alpert and the Tijiuana Brass, Blood, Sweat, & Tears, The Green Pajamas, The Beatles, Canned Heat, The Lovin' Spoonful, and the Illinois Speed Press. Maybe twenty more artists, too. Tune in for a celebration, stories, and great rock and roll. The G Man

I had to wrestle this Rhino in order to win the right to play the songs I am playing today. I have The Rolling Stones, Creedence, Jethro Tull, Loggins & Messina, Little Feat, Duane Allman, and some more obscure bands. Going into the news break, and coming out of the news break, you will hear Karn Evil 9 by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, a song conveniently recorded in 2 pieces by the band. You used to have to turn the RECORD over! Hah, now all you have to do is sit back and enjoy, while I risk my life with wild animals to bring you the best rock and roll, ever. Yeah, I won, so you win! Ride

Are you familiar with the David Crosby album 'If I Could Only Remember My Name'?

I am starting off the show Thursday at 2 PM with David and Neil Young trading licks on a song called Cowboy Movie. That song gets in a solid guitar oriented groove and never lets up.

You can expect more of the same, as I go through two hours of carefully selected songs designed to allow you, the listener, to get your groove on.

Oooh, yeah.

universum

Today on the show is part two of a series called Album Oriented Rock.

Today I will be playing whole album sides from six bands: The Allman Bros, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Derek Trucks, Cracker, Black Sabbath, and Ben Vaughn. Not in that order!

Tune in for the show for that....and discover a whole 'nother world...

I wanted to say a few words about the upcoming shows for Centripetal Sounds.

Last week was my first in a series of Album Oriented Rock shows, where I play whole album sides of certain artists. This will usually be 6 bands per show. I am starting a Blues series this week: Each show in the series goes deeper into the roots of the blues. I am also developing a series of shows called Progression, where we visit bands that play classic progressive music. I have some stand alone shows that have very descriptive titles: Where The Blacktop Ends, Wah-wah, Sing Along Songs, and Cowboy Movie (a la David Crosby!). And I have recently acquired some old vinyl that I will have some brilliant songs from, showcasing bands like Blodwyn Pig, and Sweet Thursday. And, if that is not enough, well, I have a new series coming up called Your Drug of Choice. Very tongue-in-cheek, of course. Hopefully you are like the individual in the pic, a "Satisfied Consumer"! ring of aces

Boy, have I ever got the tunes lined up for this week. I will be live in the studio a whoopin' and a hollorin' and playing the most unlikely set of songs. I have two great versions of The Days of Wine and Roses.... think about that as you are staring at the picture on the screen.....and be ready for some uptempo rock and roll...

The G Man

Today, the music takes the spotlight, not much talk, a lotta action. Take a break and stretch out as the bands stretch out and play.

Hear five-star albums from bands like The Moody Blues, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Divinorum, Many Bright Things, Steely Dan, New Fast Automatic Daffodils, War, Blind Faith,
Swervedriver, Opal
.... and more.

Got some swingin', relaxin', and loungin' music for you Thursday. Uncharacteristic for my usual shows, you will hear two solid hours of background music.

Wash your car, clean your windows, get lost surfing the net, or similar, and listen to this show! (Wink, wink)

Th' G Man

I was walking a labyrinth last night, and I reflected on a number of things, like: How often do you ever get to the actual center of something? Even the record needle in the groove never gets to the center, thanks to the spindle, of course. When do you get to say, "Out, the one remaining way to go....", like Paul Kantner says. Well, sometimes the trip is the deal, you know?

So, come and trip with me Thursday 2-4. We will head to the center of things, centripetally speaking, and listen to some amazing tunes. I dedicate this show to the one person who won't listen to me.

God Bless You. Walk on. The G Man

Deadhead

The G Man is LIVE this Thursday 2-4 PM.

This is a special 2 hour lovefest for the newly wedded Doctor David Hartman Turner...

...now living in New Jersey and still a monumentally huge Deadhead, for you all who know him. So we will play that San Francisco sound and.....

have guests in-studio from far-flung places like Seattle and south

Jefferson County. Music from Jordan Chassan, The Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band live,

Ben Vaughn, Harpers Bazarre, JA, Marshall Crenshaw, on and on...
