the women of 2004

10 years ago...listen to the women who were making music by adding their voices to the eclectic sounds of 2004.

ani difrancothere were the delicate whispers the french chill group, air....

the brazen attitude of new york's ani difranco [pictured]....

the mad stomps of omaha's tilly & the wall....

the twangy insights of los angele's rilo kiley....

the fascinating edge of canadian singer feist....

the serene heart of welsh singer jem....

and the divine bliss and chill of denmark's bliss....

This week, from 9:00 to 10:00 PM, I intend to play (in order) almost all of the songs performed by Ani DiFranco in her Iowa City concert of last week--a concert attended by my wife Missy & myself. (That is to say: I intend to play almost all of the songs performed by Ani that we can find on her CDs & that do not have naughty words.)

Every Thursday from 10:00 to 10:30 PM, I play a set of comedy built on one or more themes. This week's hilarious themes are philosophy, the meaning of life, life after death, & the existence of God--featuring Monty Python, Steve Martin, and Father Guido Sarducci, with a little Emo Philips, National Lampoon, and Woody Allen.

This week, from 9:00 to 10:00 PM & from 10:30 to 11:00 PM, I intend to play Ani DiFranco songs, in anticipation of her concert in Iowa City next week (Tue Sep 18, which my wife Missy & I will be attending)--but that may change.

(Missy & I may not have time before my show to cull only those Ani songs which have no naughty words--but we'll try.)

Every Thursday from 10:00 to 10:30 PM, I play a set of comedy built on one or more themes. This week's themes areĀ race & racism--featuring National Lampoon, Sarah Silverman, Tom Lehrer, and Chris Rock, with a little Steve Martin, Saturday Night Live, Monty Python, and Woody Allen.
