On tonight's edition of After Hours I'll be playing my favorite instrumental hip-hop and trip-hop released last year. Expect boom-bap, funky breaks and sick beats from 21 different producers and DJs. Stream it live January 16th, 10pm-12am CST right here on KRUU radio.
Some of the music is available for free streaming/download from the artists themselves. Check out the playlist for links: After Hours Playlist
Three incredible hip-hop albums dropped this week. From Philly we've got rapper Sugar Tongue Slim AKA STS backed by producer RJD2 on their first (hopefully of many) collaborative album STS x RJD2. Then there's Brooklyn-based rapper Oddisee with his new album The Good Fight. Then on the instrumental side of things, we got Degiheugi, a producer from Quebec, with his new album of fresh beats: Endless Smile.
On tonight's edition of The After Hours we'll be listening to my favorite tracks from all the albums above, plus some more great hip-hop from 2015 with Dafuniks, Mounika, Lyrics Born, Ghostface Killah, Peebs The Prophet and a whole lot more!
On today's edition of That Righteous Jive we'l be listening to some more great downtempo hip-hop/trip-hop from 2014.
I'll be featuring Red Martina, a group from Philladelphia that combines the talents of producer Stoupe (formerly of Jedi Mind Tricks), multi-instrumentalist Ish Quintero, Emcee Noesis (of Philadelphia Slick), and vocalist Hayley Cass. Yesterday they released their second album together: Come On Home.
We'll also be checking out NYC-based producer Blockhead and the album he dropped today: Bells and Whistles.
On top of that we've got: ArtOfficial, Jazz Spastiks and Catching Flies. Stream it live November 18th, 5pm-6pm CST right here on KRUU radio.
