the most interesting music of 2016

not necessarily the biggest selling, but the most creative and interesting music of 2016...

bowiedavid bowie's last bow..."i'm the great i-am...i'm a black star."

shearwater, from austin, tx, plays an undefinable style of creativity.

claypool lennon delium is one of the surprising yet perfect collaborations...

beck goes to the edge of electronic r&b; david crosby releases a beautiful new song, the band quilt flashes the senses with a new sound and harmonies, the most solid cd of the year by the red hot chili peppers, and a dancing singalong by tiggs da author, "run"...

Beck's New Album 'Morning Phase' On That Righteous Jive

Beck's new album Morning Phase dropped today. This is his first proper LP since 2008's Modern Guilt and I've been lovin' it ever since I first got my hands on it.

On today's edition of That Righteouse Jive we'll be listening to some of my favorite tracks from Beck's new album. On top of that we've got some more great neo-soul & blues with Con Brio and Stac.

Stream it live today (Feb. 25) 5-6pm CST right here on KRUU radio.

Beck is one of my favorite artists out there today, and one of the few musicans I know of who has consistently switched styles over the years and somehow managed to pull it off. He's dabbled in everything from punk rock to blues/folk to pop and electonica. Rumor has it that he'll be releasing two new albums this year. One will be a proper follow-up to his last studio album, 2008's Modern Guilt, and the other will be an all-acoustic album in vein of his blues/folk album One Foot In The Grave.

On this Tuesady's edition of That Righteous Jive we'll be listening to some tracks from four of my favorite albums by Beck: Geuro, Mutations, Odelay and One Foot In The Grave. We'll also check out his reimagining of David Bowie's "Sound and Vision" which he performed earlier this year. Stream it live July 16, 5-6pm CDT right here on KRUU radio.
