Author Andie Mitchell and Part Two with Nick Trombetta

Cover-It Was Me All AlongAndi Mitchell, the author of the blog “Can You Stay for Dinner,” and the new book, It Was Me All Along kicks off this week’s show.  Andie’s book is the story of how she lost half her body weight, and learned that her life’s journey encompasses much more than the single issue of weight.  Her book is written in a straightforward style, and chronicles how her love of food also became her vehicle of choice to mask her emotional struggles.  It’s a look at how one woman took control of her life, achieved the immediate goal of weight loss, and applied that knowledge to become a mindful eater, and, in addition, grew to become cognizant of the many other complex issues that comprise our lives on this planet.

Andie’s story is inspiring so I hope you’ll take the time to listen.  You can watch an interview with Andie on Good Morning America here.

Deli Man-The Documentary and LA Chef Nick Trombetta

Nick TrombettaLA personal chef, Nick Trombetta, joined us for a LIVE Great Taste Tuesday night at Green Building Supply.  Nick put his Italian heritage into play showing us how to make rosemary focaccia and a perfect dish for a cold winter night, creamy polenta with three cheeses, shitake mushrooms, and bok choy.  I would be remiss if I didn't state that I'm not certain I have ever tasted and enjoyed a better polenta dish.  All the flavors married together for a sparkling taste experience that highlighted a very light and nuance touch with ingredients that can be extremely heavy.

You can listen to part one of the show with Nick at 7:00 pm Wednesday and the replay is at 7:00 am on Friday.  Part two airs on Wednesday, February 11 at 7:00 pm and again on Friday, February 13 at 7:00 am.  Don't forget:  Great Taste is LIVE and FREE with a cooking demo the first Tuesday of every month brought to you by Everybody's Whole Foods and Green Building Supply.

You can watch the entire show with Nick here, courtesy of Jason Strong and Fairfield Media Center.

GISELLA ISIDORI IS BACK!
DON'T MISS OUT ON AN HOUR OF DELICIOUS FUN!
Gisella Isidori

The holidays are in sight so over the next few shows we're going to ratchet things up to help you prepare.  This week we even have two "live" shows for your listening or, if you are a local, viewing pleasure.

Chili Cook-OffOur first guest is author and editor, Gina Hyams.  Gina came up with a very fun concept-hosting cooking contests at home.  She's packaged the idea, so far, into three "in a box" products-Pie Contest in a Box, Chili Cook-Off in a Box, and her newest release, Christmas Cookie Contest in a Box.  Each kit includes everything you need as the fun party host-judge badges, prize ribbons, scorecards, and more.  We'll cook up some chili and talk with Gina about how to throw a different and exciting holiday party, plus we'll give away one of each of the "in a box" items.  If you bring some chili, a pie or Christmas cookies to share with the audience, you'll get first chance at the prizes.

Gisella IsidoriMake Fairfield's Hy-Vee your destination Wednesday at 7 pm as KRUU's Great Taste broadcasts live from the Club Room/Food Laboratory.  Our special guest is Gisella Isidori, well-known Italian Food and Travel consultant, and general whirlwind.

Join Gisella for the show where she'll discuss different Italian regional food traditions, current food trends in Italy, and share some of her favorite recipes.  She'll make several dishes including a Sicilian orange salad, the classic pasta dish spaghetti cacao e pepe, and more.  After the show stick around for another hour of cooking and a question and answer session.

Don't miss this great chance to learn how to prepare authentic Italian specialties. If you can't join us, tune into the stream at www.kruufm.com.  Ciao.
