The Filmosophers Movie Talk

Texas Ted Burghoff joins Bruce and Shane in the studio this weekend. We sawMoonrise Kingdom photo Total Recall together and our experience was quite different than many others. We'll cover the three new wide releases, including The Bourne Legacy, "the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise", with Fairfield's own Neil Cunningham; The Campaign, a "crude brand of political satire" and Hope Springs the best reviewed of the three, "led by a pair of mesmerizing performances from Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones." It's a gentle, yet poignant story of reinvigorating a 31 year marriage. An Oscar Best Picture The Artist shows Friday evening (8/10) at the FF Library, free!

You may have heard us, or read our Filmosopher's blog extolling Wes Anderson's (Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore) joyful film Moonrise Kingdom (image). We're excited to tell you it starts Friday at the Co-Ed Theatre. This continues their recent history of booking splendid indie films (Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, etc.). If so inspired, let Marilou and the staff know that's appreciated.

Shane and I saw the sweet, loving documentary Being Elmo, available at the FF Library, about Kevin Clash the puppeteer who created and "is" the Elmo millions worldwide came to love on Sesame Street. We'll talk about that and more on the Filmosophers, "where we give our filmosophy of the movies and have filmosophical discussions." Fridays at 12:30 PM Central, again Sundays, 9:00 AM.
