western swing

Ray BensonThe Nine time Grammy Award winning Kings of Western Swing(or so their press release says), Asleep At The Wheel, are coming to The Sondheim Center, Thursday, September 8 at 7:30 PM.

On the next Country Music Jamboree, I'm very excited to talk with 2011 Texan Of The Year and the front man/founder of this world-renowned Western Swing band. Ray has also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association. He's also worked as producer for many great artists.

We'll be talking all about his career, Western Swing, and what they've got planned for the Fairfield show. Interview is scheduled to begin at 11 AM.

Joe BakerAnyone who tunes into my show regularly knows that I have a deep love for western swing. Over the years, I've discovered many incredible artists still keeping this good music going.

Someone who has done a lot for this great music I enjoy is Joe Baker, from Ruidoso, New Mexico. Joe is an avid fan and promoter of western swing, Texas Honky Tonk, classic country, and cowboy music. He is the host of The Backforty Bunkhouse Radio Show, which airs every week. He has been named Disc Jockey of the Year by many western music associations. Joe is involved with many events and organizations working to preserve and promote this genre.

To say the least, Joe has his finger on the pulse of this music and we're going to be talking all about it.  Tune in to The Country Music Jamboree around 10:15 AM to hear the interview, plus great western swing and traditional country for the rest of the time.

Ken MottetHowdy Neighbors,

My life has gotten pretty busy lately, folks, and I'm going to need to take some time off during the month of October. Don't worry, though, I am not condemning you to a month of re-runs. My pal, Ken Mottet, has graciously stepped up and will be filling in for me while I'm away. Ken grew up in Fairfield, now lives in Chicago, and knows good traditional country, rockabilly, and western swing tunes about as well as anyone I know. He's got some great music lined up for you folks. You'll be in good hands. I know you have come to expect great country music and fun on every single Country Music Jamboree and this month will be no exception!

Ken will take good care of your Tuesday morning country music needs and I'll see you all when I get back.        -Corey
