Ernest Hemingway Quoted, and Truth Decay

G Man“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.” So sayeth Ernest, and that was all I needed in order to flip 39 songs onto the turntable for a spin. Truth Decay is a song by Rodney Crowell, and judging by the blog posts by James on this site, those lyrics will be relevant to you in some way.

2 0f 3 In The Three Fer Series

RREach of the ten bands in number 339 gets a three song set to try and wow you. I get a much better feel for the music when I hear multiple tunes by a band. Next week will also have a three song set for each band. In order of appearance: Camper Van Beethoven, The Medium, Prufrock, Quill, and Short Cross. Side Two has: Xit, The Carrions, John Braheny, Mad River, and Satya Sai Maitreya Kali. Psych, hard rock, classic rock, folk, and country music all in the same show. One band gets five minutes, one gets sixteen, and everyone else is in-between. Join me for some fun Saturday morn at 2 or Monday morn at 4. Cool Breeze

T ShirtI was so excited about this next show two days ago that I put a blog on with 100% pure emotion. I had only taken it to the preliminary stage, where I am shaping the ideas for the program. Little did I know that dreaming about and talking about the show would cause it to exceed my own expectations by today. If you use your power to choose and join me for the show, you are in for a wild ride through the rock and roll rollercoaster, thrill-seekers. Hour One: I heard two amazing bands at the 80/35 fest this year, The Suburbs and The Vahnevants. More 2017 releases by Alt-J, Jane Weaver, and The Secret Sisters. Plus a song off of a Denny King album I will be playing in it's entirety 9/16/17. Hour two leads off with three bands vying for record of the year: The Paperhead, Mac DeMarco, and The Host Country. This is where it gets even more interesting, because I am playing a song off of The Host Country's new album that has yet to be released to the public. Yes, you will hear it first on this radio station. New music from Cotillon, Real Estate, and The Infamous Stringdusters, plus The Soundtrack of Our Lives and The Rolling Stones. Hour Three is IN ROOT #13, and features songs by Michael Parks, Ferlin Husky, Bill Black's Combo, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra. Tap it right in to your electric calendar. The G Man

Cannot Wait

G ManI am excited about the next show, so I am putting this blog on early. It may be removed so read fast. I have a bunch of music released in 2017 for the show, and I am doing a killer new In Root to boot. I have so many new songs I will be bringing in about three days worth of music, of which I will get to play three hours. I suppose I could buy the station and just go wild, but for now just mark your calendar for 2-5 Thursday. The G Man

Good Things Coming In Threes

RRSo the final song last week was The Time of The Year is Sunset by The New Colony Six. This song kicks off a set of three shows where each band is allowed three songs. I find that three is a representative sample, if you are wondering about buying their music. And buy you will, if you want to support these wonderful musicians. I am admittedly playing now defunct bands on now defunct labels, so as a counter balance go out and support some live music in your town. And hey, give generously to the KRUU. Oh yes, and I also am spotlighting Help, Terry Manning, and Camper Van Beethoven. No commercial interruption! The finest in genre bending music! Listen in. Cool Breeze

Paul, Mainly...Paul

G ManSo the deal here, for the show this week, is that all the songs have a prominent Paul in the mix. Writer, performer, producer, engineer, you name it, I have it. Famous Pauls include McCartney, Weller, Winter, Simon, Revere, and Kantner. Plus other lesser-knowns, although you will likely recognize the band names. Check the playlist out before the show so you can pace yourself- you don't want to get too excited. I still have a few t-shirts with the Centripetal Sounds logo on them available, email me if you would like to buy one as a donation to the station. Also, next week is the next edition of In Root, be sure to tune in for that- 4-5 PM on 7.27. The G Man

Three Bands and A Cloud of Dust

rrI am playing songs by Conor Oberst, Real Estate, and The New Colony Six during the show tomorrow morning. The rest of the bands are fairly obscure: I have almost no information about any of them. This is music I purchased as downloads. Some of the music was made back in the mid sixties. Some music, as in the case of Crash Coffin, had such a limited local release that almost no one heard them for years. Most reviewers would consider these bands to be second or third tier, but that is not a knock on a great song, of which I have many. If you have heard the show, you know I will be swinging from one extreme to the other. Hey, I am lucky in love, and lucky in finding sweet underground music. Join me at 4 AM Monday morning early risers! Cool Breeze

Spotlight: Instrumentals

G ManSo to advance the cause of rock and roll, I present a 3 hour show of instrumental music. Now before you get all weepy, just remember- I am the only government you will ever need on planet rock and roll... This show has an amazing depth and variability to it. I have well-known artists like The Eagles, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, ELP, Guess Who, and Booker T. I am also playing wonderful tunes by The Records, Baby Grandmothers, Truth, The Bitchin'  Bajas, and Dredg. One show where you do not have to worry about missing a lyric line. The G Man

As I Live and Breathe

RRJust rolled in from listening to some excellent live music at the 80/35 festival in Des Moines. The Suburbs and The Vahnevants just killed it. You will be hearing them, from me, soon. This show, however, is more of a jam session. Fun stuff up ahead from Autosalvage, Bear Mountain Band, Alkana, Big Lost Rainbow, The Boston Tea Party, and FC Kahuna. Check the playlist just before the show, and if you are other wise disposed, get up at 4 AM Monday morning and get loose with this set. Cool Breeze

Food For A Lively Soul

RRThere are seven longs songs that everything else sort of weaves in and out of during the show. In the seven plus minutes category: The Moody Blues, The Paperhead, Head Machine, The Green Pajamas, Paul Kantner & David Crosby, Loop, and Dredg. Having said that, I am focusing equally on bands that are unknown relative to the above list. We are deep into the psychedlia, and it will not be until August 12 that I start playing full albums again. Here is a teaser: I just bought a CD that is my first candidate for record of the year. That will be coming soon. In the meantime, if you need some great music to help you through early Saturday morning, or Monday morning... tune in. Cool Breeze
