You will not think about unions the same way after hearing what this man and his family has been through standing up for workers' rights and safety.

The American Shakespeare Center will present the comedy Twelfth Night on Tuesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Iowa Wesleyan College Chapel Auditorium. This is a free performance open to the public, writes Theresa Rose for KILJ.

“This is ‘fun Shakespeare’—-light, witty, and fast-paced; a play full of fools, knaves, clowns, scoundrels, cross-dressing tricksters, nerds in love, and a crusty drunken uncle named—-we kid you not—Sir Toby Belch,” said Dr. Jeff Martinek, professor of English at Iowa Wesleyan. “If you have never seen Shakespeare performed live or have doubts about it being your cup of tea, we urge you to give this one a try.”

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and there will be live acoustic music and a pre-show speech by the cast in the half-hour prior to the performance.

Jason Aviles hails from the Bronx and is actively involved in promoting youth advocacy amd well-being. Samira Abdelrahman came to school from North Carolina. Both are student leaders at MUM. They met "Let Freedom Ring" concert founder Patti Miller at a presentation at the Public Library. They talk about their participation in this weekend's event and the upcoming trip to Mississippi where they'll sing with another choir in Meridian and visit other historic civil rights sites. It is really inspiring to hear them talk about what this journey has meant to them personally.

John talks about his history with the organization starting in 1994 and the application process. This will be Fairfield's 10th home! Scott is helping to inspire people to volunteer and get involved with this amazing organization. Alliant Hometown Rewards is a partner and their "Powerhouse Team" will film the project.

Cody Cohen is a sweet and caring young man who loves animals and adores children...truly a "good guy." At 17 years old, he's 6'3" now, a gentle giant. He is a Senior at Fairfield High School, having played football all four years. He has a fantastic group of friends and his teachers and coaches love him.

Cody suffers with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a rare blood cancer, and needs a bone marrow transplant within the next three months. Cody and his family hope a bone marrow match can be found for him, and for every person who needs one!
