KRUU's own Keith DeBoer sat down with Nathan and Rebecca Bliss, the melodic brains and beauty that comprise the soul of Barnaby Bright.  The duo, named after the summer soltice, drove for hours in the early morning (after a late night show) so they could arrive at KRUU's studio in advance of their evening double bill with The Sea, The Sea (opening song before this interview). What ensued was manic conversation, punch drunk laughter and an amazing 2 song, in-studio performance.

Nathan and Rebecca are two modern day troubadours, averaging  40,000 miles a year to places like London, Amsterdam, and New York's Lincoln Center. They've appeared on stage with bands like the Lumineers and Norah Jones. Their multiple guitars, harmonium, banjo, ukulele, floorboard bass, thumb pianos and keyboards yield creative instrumentation, stellar harmonies and a stage show that places them at the top of our short list of Indie-folk duos you do not want to miss.

James Moore talks with Gabriel Renfrow about his music, his Kings of Heart and his passion for tatoos. Okay, not the latter, but next time he certainly will. "I come from a tatoo family," he told me matter of factly after the interview.

Ken Mottet

Hey folks, Corey Hickenbottom here. Let me tell you about this fella Ken Mottet.

Ken Mottet lives in Chicago and is known as the Mayor of Rockabilly. Ken is the host of The Otherside, a music video show out of Chicago. He plays acoustic rythm guitar for the great honky-tonk, country boogie, western swing band, Gin Palace Jesters. He emcees rockabilly events all across the country. He's a former stand-up comic. He's a very cool cat. He is also from Fairfield.

On this Saturday's Local Yokels, I will be live in the studio with Ken Mottet. Ken will be performing live on the air. He's also bringing a copy of the nearly finished new album by Gin Palace Jesters! It's going to be a blast and I would recommend not missing it!

Further interview with Ken may appear on my regular show, Folkabillyrockblues.
