These instructions assume you are using the EuroDesk MX3282A Mixing board.
WIRING THINGS UP
First make sure all the wiring is correct. It should look like the diagram below: [picture]
- The phone cord should be plugged in to a phone line in the wall
- The other end of the phone cord should be plugged into the phone jack on the phone itself (underneath the phone there is a little picture of a box with a phone jack).
- The handset line (under the phone) should be connected to the THAT-2 box's Telephone jack. If you wish you can plug the phone's handset to the Handset jack on the THAT-2.
- The To phone 1/4" port on the THAT-2 should be connected to the Phones 2 port on the Eurodesk board (in the Phones/Monitor Outs section on the top right of the board).
- The From phone 1/4" port on the THAT-2 should be connected to Channel 19 on the EuroDesk board
- On the THAT-2 box, make sure the Handset type switch is set to B, and Line In is enabled (push the button in)
- Make sure you have a microphone and a headphone (so you can listen to the person on the other end of the phone).
- Mic(s) should be in Channel 1 or 2 on the Eurodesk board.
- The headphone should be in the Phones 1 channel (top right, in the Phones/Monitor Outs section).
The steps above (part 4. and 9.) have both the headphone and the output to the phone controlled by the Phones/Monitor levels. If you want to control them separately, you can move the To phone cord in step 4 to one of the Aux. Sends channels. Basically:
- (instead of step 4.) The To phone 1/4" port on the THAT-2 should be connected to Aux. Sends channel 7 on the Eurodesk board.
- Make sure that all the Mic channels you are using (usually Channel 1 and 2) is being sent to channels 7&8. Make sure the button labeled 7-8 right next to the channel slider (bottom of the board) is depressed.
- Turn up the dial labeled 8 on the Mic channels.
- Turn up the dial labeled 8 on the Aux. Sends bank.
SETTING THE LEVELS
The volume to the person on the other end of the phone is controlled by the Phones level (or the Aux. Sends 8 level, if you chose this option above). Setting it to maximum will provide a good level to your guest.
Setting the output recording levels is based on the Aux 1 dial, and the Aux. Sends 1 dial. Make sure NOT to turn these up too high, since this can cause the signal to overload.
