A Reasonable Alternative Fri 8pm with Dorothy Beal & Matt Mulleneaux

A Reasonable Alternative Explores the Singer/Songwriters of the 1970s this Friday!
Long-time Fairfield resident Dorothy Beal has played many roles in her life: activist, author, actress, wife and mother, just to name a few. She is also grandmother to KRUU disc jockey Matt Mullenneaux, and a big music fan.
"The 1970s was a wonderfully expressive era in music," Dorothy says. "Singers used songwriting to tell stories and share their point of view with the world." Be sure to tune in this Friday from 8 to 9 PM, to hear great storytellers such as Jim Croce, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor (pictured, above right), Joni Mitchell (sketched in the Ladies of the Canyon cover, above left) and more. Dorothy will also read excerpts from her book, "Being Our Own Heroes," a collection of autobiographical stories written with other members of the Fairfield Peer Group. Mullenneaux and co-host Michael Halley will reminisce about the days of disco, Star Wars (Episode 4) and The Brady Bunch, and try to connect the dots to modern artists such as Cat Power, James Blunt and John Mayer, who fit the genre.
