"Media should be the fourth estate, not for the state." -Amy Goodman

Independent media champion Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, addresses Fairfield at the Public Library as part of a tour for her latest book "Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times", co-written with her brother, investigative journalist David Goodman. Democracy Now! is the largest media collaboration in North American public broadcasting.

Burt Chojnowski of Fairfield First! invited Ms. Goodman to Fairfield. Proceeds were divided between that organization and KRUU-FM. Amy signed books that she made sure were provided by local independent bookstore, 21st Century. She stayed in Fairfield for several hours, eating at a local eatery, the Small Planet, and visiting the grassroots community radio station, Abundance Ecovillage, MUM graduation ceremonies, and Vedic City before heading out to Denver.

Amy has won many of the most prestigious awards in journalism, including the George Polk Award, the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award, and the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting. Her other NY Times best-sellers include "Exception to the Rulers" and "Static".

Please note: The quality of the recording's final 25 minutes falters as our ZOOM recorder ran out of disc space, and it switches to the local public access sound recording from their video camera. We are grateful FPAC was there.
