It has been stated that Percy Mayfield may have been the greatest song writer in the history of rhythm and blues (Aug 12, 1920-Aug. 11, 1984). Famous for the songs "Hit the Road Jack" and "Please Send Me Someone to Love", as well as his smooth vocal style, in the 1950's "he waxed some of the greatest, and most desolately beautiful blues ballads ever heard." Five selections from His Specialty and Brunswick labels will be played.  Also, tracks from Lalo Schifrin, Smokey Bandits, Alexander Courage and Henry Mancini will be aired. You know, the really cool stuff that Ultra Lounge is made of! Wed, Sept 8th 2-3pm.
