The focus is on horns for today's show. Minneapolis-based Lamont Cranston Band kicks off the show with 'The Darker Side', a great r & b number with that little bit of swagger that the best songs have. Then Blodwyn Pig  gives us 'The Modern Alchemist', from their Ahead Rings Out release from 1969. Next up, Ben Vaughn with a couple of songs that sound like they are from movie soundtracks. I am then going to play two songs by John Hartford. Yeah, that John Hartford, but from earlier in his career before he went totally bluegrass. He had a great sense of humor, and in these songs he has a little fun with The Beatles and their song "Hey Jude." Just this side of Wierd Al, basically. Hour One also contains some smooth jazz by John Handy, some complex avant-garde music from The Paul Winter Consort, and an amazing version of the song 'Summertime' by Wayne Hancock. Hour two is full of Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Lowell Fulson, Pink Floyd, Paul Revere & the Raiders, and two songs by one of my favorite Iowa bands, Bob Dorr & the Blue Band. It may be difficult to go two hours and not get totally excited.......
