Great Taste Presents ALL THINGS ITALIAN

Pasta with Basilpreparing pasta sauceFriday, June 4 is the annual "All Things Italian" Art Walk.  It's always one of the major events of the year in the Fairfield Town Square.  Dick DeAngelis, il capo, will fill us in on all the terrific events set to take place that evening, and we'll focus on the FOOD.

Pasta is one of the main food themes this year.  Peter Robertson, CEO and Master Pasta Maker from RP's Pasta in Madison, Wisconsin, joins us on the show to discuss the myriad forms of pasta.  Also, Peter is coming to Fairfield for the festival to run a pasta making clinic each hour in the square.  At the Art Walk he'll give a 10-15 minute talk at the top of the hour beginning first at 6:00 PM.  Each talk will be followed by a hands-on teaching session where approximately 20 people will actually make fresh pasta from scratch.  Culinary students from Indian Hills Community College will assist Peter, and Kitchen Aid is generously sending mixers and pasta attachments to make the process simple.  Peter is a supporter of the Buy Fresh, Buy Local initiatie and all the eggs used for the pasta that evening will come from local organic farms.  Even better news is tastes of the fresh pasta will be available to anyone who comes by the tent.

Also, on Great Taste during our Italian Fest, Kathy will make, what else, pasta in the studio.  She is trying a new sauce out that she saw Kim Severson of the New York Times make last week.  If you're in the neighborhood drop by for a taste.

All Things Italian on Wednesday's Great Taste, 7-8 PM with a rebroadcast Friday from 7-8 AM.  Catch the stream at  Follow us on Twitter if you want to check out what we're eating, reading, and watching.
