The long awaited new CD, Ellipse, from Imogen Heap (photo right) has just been released. Continuing to sizzle in the afterglow of emcee duties for the
Woodstock Tribute Concert at Sondheim Center, DJ Andy Bargerstock plays his personal favorites from the new CD. The show is a curious mix of blues, electronic chillout, and heartfelt singer-songwriter ballads. Although most tracks emerge from the contemporary scene, there will be a couple of fringe tunes from the Golden Era of rock music including John Renbourn (photo) with Pentangle's "Hole in the Coal", an interesting jazz/folk fusion that broke new ground in late sixties music composition.
As the chill of the night air drifts through your window, Fringe Toast will turn delightfully crispy around its edges with first-time electronica tracks from William Orbit, Patrick O'Hearn, Nouvelle Vague, Between Interval, Maneesh De Moor, and Jai Uttal. Listen closely mid-way through the first hour for Opera to Relax, the German husband/wife duo with such distinctively surreal female vocals and creative, electronic/percussion foundations. Oh, what a way to welcome the coming fall season. Spread the word and mark your calendar!
