jack siebelFitting that DJ Andy Bargerstock should play as second song on this week's program the 1971,"Jack-knife Gypsy," by Paul Siebel (photo), little known singer-songwriter but well-known among musicians who sang his compositions keren annincluding Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Ian Matthews and Waylon Jennings. This track emits a raw, blue-collar feeling about working in factories and dancing with danger in the form of a woman known to carry a knife. Near mid-point in the program, listen for the surrealistic lyrics and singing of Keren Ann (photo) from Paris/Israel and a fine lady to join the Fringe Toast lineup of chill-out artists.

We will explore more fine tunes from last week's artists including Willy Porter (WI), David Wilcox (OH), Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders, and Quicksilver Messenger Service with Dino Valente. And, hold tight for the second hour with an extended CHILL-OUT session. You will hear electronically-gifted Adham Shaikh and Tim Floyd playing under the group name, Drift. But, perhaps the highlight of the show may be San Francisco's Under, an alluring downtempo play similar to Zero 7. Lead singer, Jen Triano, floats through the ether with charming melodies and vague, melancholy lyrics that hint of something brooding in the shadows. And, there will be many new musical surprises including Kaya Project, Pushmipulyu, Sarah Jarosz, and Slim Harpo.
