FRINGE TOAST - Quicksilver Messenger Service - Wed., 7/1/09 at 8pm CT

Formed in 1965 by Dino Valente (photo right), Quicksilver Messenger Service was one of dinovalentethe premier jam bands of its time with distinctive twanging guitars, folk music sensibilities and classical influences. QMS launches this week's show with 7-minute classic, "Mona" and "Just for Love". Guster and Matthew Sweet catfish keithwill then help us transition from yesteryear into a finger-picking foray by Davenport, Iowa's Catfish Keith (photo left) who was recently inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame. His finger-picking style and classic Mississippi River blues ballads will charm the night away.... fits right into Fringe Toast lickings.

Tonight's program also features 2009 artists from western North Carolina's Merle Fest, the annual blues and bluegrass festival. Now, if you think that this may not twist your knot, just wait a minute! Trust the musical selections of DJ Andy Bargerstock who has carefully culled the list and pieces selected with your mind in mind. You'll hear from David Wilcox, Cosy Sheridan, Rory Block, The Greencards, and The Duhks. By the time the chill out session begins, you will hear new mixes from UK's electronica group, Zero 7, and Norway's Kings of Convenience, and the first-timer electronic group knows as Drift. Check out the playlist and enjoy the show.

Wed 7/1 show

Andy, great choice of some of my favorite artists from my private collection. I loved the pieces you chose and especially enjoyed turning the maestro on to a few tunes that were new to him. It was great to explore these artists together.

Regards,
Ralph
