Last week on Open Views I spoke with John Wilbanks, Executive Director of Science Commons. Science Commons is active in promoting the use of Open Access as a model for publishing scientific research and findings.
But his message was from the perspective of the knowledge creators and the publishers. What happens on the other side, i.e., with those who need to have access to the information itself?
To answer this question, and to get perspectives from those working with Open Access in the developing world, I spoke with Jennifer Papin-Ramcharan, technical Librarian at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus. Jennifer's perspectives on Open Access in the country of Trinidad and Tobago are fascinating, and they're the topic of this week's episode of Open Views.
