Anyone missing my GreaFarmer's Market vendorst Taste emails? It's been a tough two weeks trying to sort out the situation after emails to you listeners were blocked multiple times.  But, in the end, it was a good thing.  I took the impasse as validation that GT needed a reputable email firm to handle the list moving forward.

If you are on the Great Taste email list you'll soon receive an invitation to opt-in for the same weekly emails. If you want to continue receiving info about upcoming shows, recipes, links to interesting food articles, and other fun stuff, then respond immediately. You'll only get one invite. New to GT, you can sign up for the eletter HERE

LIVE THIS WEEK

Now, that piece of business is finished, let's get to the shows for this week. At Hy-Vee Live in the Club Room on Wednesday we'll welcome Deborah Williamson. Deborah has been, over the years, the proprietor of two local establishments. Famous for her nut burgers, she's going to share the recipe and make a batch for everyone who attends the show to enjoy. And, if you ever had or have dreams of opening a restaurant, listen up because Deborah has some insights you'll probably find fascinating, if not harrowing. If you don't already realize it, it's a tough business. Though lots of statistics are thrown around, it's pretty safe to figure that approximately 60% of restaurants that open don't survive past their third year of operation.

Berry smoothieEmily Rose Shaw, our health coach, will pass along some critical information with our well-being in mind.  (Note my beautiful smoothie photo.  With Emily's guidance I drink one almost every morning giving my day a nutritious start.)  Bev Merson has a review of the Peabody award-winning documentary, King Corn, and, no doubt, there will be more.  We hope to see you at Hy-Vee.

ON THE STREAM

tomato pieWe're paid a visit by a crew of local farmers who are participating in the July 4 Farm Crawl You can find all the info on the Crawl HERE. What a great way to spend the 4th-eating and visiting your way around the farms worked by our terrific local food heroes.

Not only did we have a great time visiting with everyone on the show, but you'll get some good pointers about raising some food of your own.  Barb Grijalva and her daughter, Dallas, were really busy in the kitchen during the show.  They prepared a vegetable pie, tomato pie, and an arugula salad.  All the details are in the broadcast.

SPECIAL NOTE:  NEXT WEEK'S SHOW IS LIVE AT GREEN BUILDING SUPPLY

Green Building Supply will host a show once or more a month starting in July, but usually they'll be an extra Great Taste treat scheduled in addition to our regular Wednesdays at Hy-Vee.  For technical reasons we'll do the show on July 10 from GBS.  Come by to hear the authors of two new books-The Forgetful Gentleman and Eat Up.  Of course, we'll be creating some delicious food, too.
