On Tuesday, October 9 Fairfield was named a Blue Zones Project demonstration site. In honor of that designation Matt and Mike will play some great "blue" tunes on this week's A Reasonable Alternative. Matt's got Lana Del Rey's fresh cover of "Blue Velvet" while Mike dug out the memorable "Blue Eyes" Cary Brothers ballad from the incredible "Garden State" soundtrack. And that's just for starters.

If you're wondering what this Blue Zones stuff is all about, here's the official explanation from the bluezoneproject.com website:

"The Blue Zones Project is based on Blue Zones principles developed by Dan Buettner and is the centerpiece of the Healthiest State Initiative to make Iowa the healthiest state by 2016 as measured by the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index®, the first-ever daily assessment of U.S. residents' health and well-being. Blue Zones Project employs evidence-based ways to help people live longer, better lives by taking a systematic, environmental approach to well-being, which focuses on optimizing policy, social networks, and the built environments where we spend our time."

Tune in Friday night at 8:00 or catch the rebroadcast Monday morning at 9:00 for another epic ARA theme show.
