Ariella Elizabeth-5 days oldAriella Elizabeth Severin is the sole reason last week's GREAT TASTE episode came from our archives.  I can ecstatically report that she is a terrific eater; weighing in at 5 pounds when she left the hospital and tipping the scales two day's later already back to her birth weight of 5 pounds 7 ounces.  As a proud and thankful first-time nonno (grandfather in Italian), I look forward to many meals together as we explore the diverse and delicious world of food.

OK, on to this week's "live" studio show.  What's it like to go from having your own blog to actually getting a book contract?  Do deadlines become a little different when a publisher is waiting for a manuscript as opposed to an adoring public?  We'll discuss the highs and lows of writing a first book with Beth Howard (theworldneedsmorepie.com) and Jeanne Sauvage (artofglutenfreebaking.com).  Beth's book, MAKING PIECE: A Memoir about Love, Loss, and Pie, will be published by Harlequin Non-Fiction, and Jeanne's Gluten-Free Holiday Baking by Chronicle Books.

Since we had such a fascinating and tasty experience during our recent Asian studio feast, we've decided to make our second KRUU benefit dinner auction "A Night on the streets of Taipei."  Get all the details and reserve Saturday, July 9 because a sensory experience known only to market street-goers in that capital city awaits.  Demerie Faitler will drop by to share the details.

What's on the burner?  Not certain yet, but it could be asparagus.  The weeks are flying by and that fantastic spring treat will soon disappear from our gardens so we may cook some up.  We'll see you at the studio, we hope, or catch you on the stream at kruufm.com.  Oh, I might talk about Ariella, too!
