Intercranial Whizbang Hour: A Beatles Special Mon Dec 10 at 10pm
More or less coinciding with the 27th anni
versary of John Lennon's passing, but mostly just 'cause I've got a ton of recently acquired Beatles-related stuff:
1. The 'Sgt. Pepper' Multitracks. Possibly the most famous album in music history was recorded using two 4-track reel-to-reel machines. Some of the individual tracks have come to light, including those for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "With a Little Help from My Friends" and "A Day in the Life", and we'll be delving into them. No matter how well you know this album I promise you will hear things you never heard before.
2. Run for Your Life: The Beatles in One Hour. Some maniac used his time-compression software to squeeze nearly the entire recorded output of the Fab Four into one hour. Listening to the entire thing would probably make heads explode, but how about the entire White Album in 5 minutes?
3. Get Back: The Glyn Johns Compilation. Forget about "Let It Be...Naked"--this is the album that was originally slated for release before everyone involved lost interest and dumped the tapes in Phil Spector's lap to desecrate.
4. And if there's any time left, Beatles Christmas Messages, Beatles Christmas singles and Beatles-soundalike Christmas songs!
