Cannot Wait

G ManI am excited about the next show, so I am putting this blog on early. It may be removed so read fast. I have a bunch of music released in 2017 for the show, and I am doing a killer new In Root to boot. I have so many new songs I will be bringing in about three days worth of music, of which I will get to play three hours. I suppose I could buy the station and just go wild, but for now just mark your calendar for 2-5 Thursday. The G Man

Good Things Coming In Threes

RRSo the final song last week was The Time of The Year is Sunset by The New Colony Six. This song kicks off a set of three shows where each band is allowed three songs. I find that three is a representative sample, if you are wondering about buying their music. And buy you will, if you want to support these wonderful musicians. I am admittedly playing now defunct bands on now defunct labels, so as a counter balance go out and support some live music in your town. And hey, give generously to the KRUU. Oh yes, and I also am spotlighting Help, Terry Manning, and Camper Van Beethoven. No commercial interruption! The finest in genre bending music! Listen in. Cool Breeze

Paul, Mainly...Paul

G ManSo the deal here, for the show this week, is that all the songs have a prominent Paul in the mix. Writer, performer, producer, engineer, you name it, I have it. Famous Pauls include McCartney, Weller, Winter, Simon, Revere, and Kantner. Plus other lesser-knowns, although you will likely recognize the band names. Check the playlist out before the show so you can pace yourself- you don't want to get too excited. I still have a few t-shirts with the Centripetal Sounds logo on them available, email me if you would like to buy one as a donation to the station. Also, next week is the next edition of In Root, be sure to tune in for that- 4-5 PM on 7.27. The G Man

Au revoir SimoneDUE TO TECHINICAL DIFFICULTIES LAST WEEK, this program will be an original LIVE program this week with DJ Andy Bargerstock.

Hot off their performances on David Lynch's Twin Peaks TV show, the female keyboard and vocal trio Au Revoir Simone (photo left) shares the Fringe Toast spotlight with rootsy Wooden Birds (CD cover below right).  In the first hour singer-songwriter Frally shares a three tracks from her library. The program begins with new blues track from Taj Mahal and Keb Mo.

The second-hour Chill Session pivots around 13-minute back-to-back tracks from French group Air ("La Femme D'Argent")Wooden Birds and UK electonica/blues duo Zero 7 ("Salt Water Sound"). Super toe-tapping, endorphine simmering Groove!

Click here for playlist.  Encourage friends to join the live stream at on Wednesday at 8pm CT with replay on Saturday at 8am CT.

Look for DJ Andy Bargerstock's music reviews every month in Iowa Source Magazine.

Carrot Soup

Kathy DuBois, GT's former co-host, assumed command in the GBS kitchen during Tuesday evening's LIVE Great Taste show.  On last week's Great Taste I spoke with Deborah Madison, and on the LIVE show Kathy, along with her assistant Christi Welsh, used recipes from several of Deborah's books to make carrot soup with spicy butter, baked ricotta, zucchini with mint and other herbs, and a roasted beet salad.  Many of the ingredients were picked or dug from the Sustainable Living Department's student garden within a few hours of showtime.
