Hey y'all.

It's Valentine's Day and it seems most folks either love it or hate it. Crooked Sisters Radio Hour will help you celebrate the day however you feel.

I'll be alternating sets of sweet, sweet love songs with sets of baby-done-me-wrong-who-needs-it songs throughout the morning.

So join me, your host Lauryn Shapter, from 10 to noon Thursday for two hours of great love songs and even better leavin' songs.

No matter how you feel about Valentine's Day, I'll be spinning something for you.

Special Guest in the Studio-Wendy Wasserman

Wendy Wasserman
Before she became the publisher of Edible Iowa River Valley, Wendy lived in Tokyo, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, New York and Hawaii, and her passport now requires extra pages from all her international travel, she finds Iowa in some respects one of the most mysterious places she has have ever resided. She knows the territory is full of culinary surprises and delicious stories and is excited to discover them for the readers of Edible Iowa River Valley.

But there's more--the studio will abound with the smells of Kathy's cooking and we'll talk to some local food heroes!

Black SabbathOn tonight's episode of Metal Health we willSabbath be covering the career of Black Sabbath. Black Sabbath were the pioneers of metal in the early years with their classic heavy guitar riffs and occult themes from the late 60's and early 70's.

Over the years they have released classics such as the obvious Iron Man and Paranoid and many others. They also helped introduce the world to many great vocalists who later had great solo success such as Ronnie James Dio and Ozzy Osbourne.

So check us out tonight from 11 pm to 1 am on KRUU

and we'll take a trip back to when metal was born.

Rolling StonesForget about "Across the Universe" in space: The Rolling Stones'Satisfaction "Satisfaction" was rocking the cosmos back in the 70's, also courtesy of NASA.
In honor (if you want to call it that) of Valentine's Day, this week's Intercranial Whizbang Hour will begin with an hour of "Satisfaction", as performed by artists across the chronological and artistic spectrum, from Otis Redding to Cat Power, including a version by The Residents which has been known to end parties and clear rooms in under 30 seconds.

It all starts at 10PM Monday night CST.

On February 5th, my Great Teacher passed on into Mahasamadhi. His presence, his effort, his attention, his love, his devotion and his teachings have forever impacted the face of planet Earth. Personally, I have been enmeshed in Transcendental Meditation [TM] since just about the time I was born.
I attended courses with my Mom and I began meditating with a walking mantra and later moved on into the more advanced techniques. As a high school student @ Maharishi Upper School in Fairfield I spent my time rebelling against the dogma of the TM Movement, and then at the University of Iowa I began to explore consciousness via music, light and art...Raving and electronic music became power tools which needed juice and Transcendental Meditation was the obvious choice for me.

Forget the one drops and dubtronics for a second folks. What we've got here is a myriad of sound- all that hip hop was, before there was hip hop. From N. Africa to India to the Bronx and beyond, DJ Drez pulls out everything from ambient synth and flute to ethnic percussion and nasty funk drops. Don't worry, there's plenty of deft turntable action as well.
Mos def, we're talkin' the WHOLE enchilada here (hold the rice and beans.)
These are the vibezzz!
