2015: Underground Hip-Hop

Three incredible hip-hop albums dropped this week. From Philly we've got rapper Sugar Tongue Slim AKA STS backed by producer RJD2 on their first (hopefully of many) collaborative album STS x RJD2. Then there's Brooklyn-based rapper Oddisee with his new album The Good Fight. Then on the instrumental side of things, we got Degiheugi, a producer from Quebec, with his new album of fresh beats: Endless Smile.

On tonight's edition of The After Hours we'll be listening to my favorite tracks from all the albums above, plus some more great hip-hop from 2015 with DafuniksMounika, Lyrics BornGhostface Killah, Peebs The Prophet and a whole lot more!

We'll start out with Broken Brass Ensemble--an eight-piece brass band from the Netherlands--and their second album together Brasshopper.

Then on the soul side of things we've got Brooklyn-based Phony Ppl, a band that combines "vintage astral funk, colorful world music, and dusted-out hip-hop either from the future or the past." We'll check out their new album Yesterday's Tomorrow. We'll also hear some more from MonophonicsSound of Sinning.
