Saturday morning hear Airbourne by Russ Gabriel, from the CD box set Amberdelic Space; hear one of our fave songs: Traveller (Kid Loco's Once Upon a Time In the East mix) by Britain's Talvin Singh. "Playing a fully amplified rig that the press has labeled
'Tablatronics,' Singh honours the aesthetic and cultural aspects of the Indian classical music tradition while embracing modern technology." Traveller also has a cinematic quality, which inspired the Pirate Satellite Joseph Campbell mix.
Also hear 2 songs from the Verve Remixed series, including Bent's mix of Billie Holiday's Speak Low and Max Sedgley's mix of Peter Gunn, as sung by Sarah Vaughn.
Also hear from Scotland's Boards of Canada; France's Air; Sven Van Hess; Jose Padilla and more. We'll post the playlist afterward.

Saturday morning Shane and Dad will be in Crew's solar powered studio to play music from Shane's fave film: Tron Legacy. It isn't Dad's favorite, but he does share Shane's enthusiasm for the electronic soundtrack by Daft Punk. Tron Legacy Director Joseph Kosinski wrote: "I had been listening to Daft Punk for almost ten years before I met them at the 101 Coffee Shop in Hollywood one morning in November 2007. I sat down not knowing what to expect, and I was immediately struck by their deep knowledge and love of the film and particularly the sanctity in which they held Steven Lisberger’s TRON. Saturday morning enjoy "Musical Medicine for the Soul". "Ambient electronic, Shamanic, Intergalactic Space Music" by Dan Pound. "Fusing indigenous, ethnic instruments, voice & percussion with guitars & space synth sound worlds, this music is at once other worldly & evocative. Hear sounds meant for creating a sacred space, as well as invoking a primal & dark inversion of introspection. "It is the essence of order and leads to all that is good, true and beautiful."
School is out Friday which means Filmosopher's junior reviewer Shane Miller will join Chris and I in the studio. Shane and Dad are excited to talk about our Hayao Miyazaki festival experience. We've recently seen Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle. As mentioned last week, we saw Princess Mononoke (DVD available at the FF Library) first and expressed deep admiration for what is ostensibly an animated adventure film which makes "a statement on the ecological devastation brought on by human advancement". Filmosophically it is so much more: a visually beautiful, magically resonant, spiritually profound epic journey of desire versus conscious awareness. -click "Read More" to continue-
