Spinning in the stormy history
~ Maria, by Daisy

With songs delightfully deep and quirky-fun by turns, Austin singer-songwriter and ray of sunshine Daisy released her debut EP entitled Do Be Do this week. Tune in to hear her discuss her path from her childhood on a farm in Washington state, to becoming a social worker, to giving that up to follow her heart to the musical mecca of Austin, Texas where she met producer Daniel Barrett.  Together they polished up 5 of her songs, including some co-writes with Steve Poltz, into a shiny gem of an EP that is sure to get your boots stomping along, at least when it isn't tugging at your heartstrings.

Steve BerlinLos Lobos saxophonist Steve Berlin talks with James Moore about this weekend's FAIRfest '14 appearance. It is an amazing interview that touches on the East L.A. bands roots, Neil Young's incredible work ethic, reflections on playing the White House and consoling Ritchie Valens' sister at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa on the 50th anniversary of the day the music died, and raving praise for Mike Dillon, Glenn Hartman and James Singleton whom Berlin refers to as some of the best musicians in the world.

Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Berlin is best known as a member of Los Lobos and, before that, Top Jimmy & The Rhythm Pigs, The Blasters, and The Flesh Eaters. Berlin is married and lives with his wife and children in Portland, Oregon.

As either a session musician or producer, Berlin has worked with the Crash Test Dummies, Backyard Tire Fire, Beat Farmers, John Lee Hooker, The Paladins, Faith No More, Dave Alvin, R.E.M., The Go-Go's, The Smithereens, The Replacements, Leo Kottke, Sheryl Crow, The Act, Los Super Seven, Rickie Lee Jones, String Cheese Incident, Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), Raul Malo, Rick Trevino, Jackie Greene, The Tragically Hip, Great Big Sea, The Bridge, Nathan Wiley, The Dandy Warhols, Making Movies and Deer Tick.
