On Thu Jun 21 from 9:00 to 10:00 PM, I'll be playing--in order--the songs performed by Richard Thompson in his Minneapolis show of Mon Jun 11, which my wife Missy & I attended.
From 10:00 to 10:30 PM, I'll play episode 8 of the sketch comedy radio series KPUT, originally broadcast on KRUI in Iowa City.
Comedy Playlist for "Ain't That Peculiar" 6/21/07 (10:00 to 10:30 PM)
From 10:30 to 11:00 PM, I'll continue to play--in order--the songs performed by Richard Thompson in his Minneapolis show of last week.
In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine rated Thompson as #19 on its list of The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. RS also rated his (& then-wife Linda Thompson's) 1982 album "Shoot Out The Lights" as #9 of The 100 Greatest Albums of the 80s, and as #24 of the top 100 albums from 1967 to 1987. (RS also listed Richard & Linda Thompson's 1974 album "I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight" as #86 of the top 100 albums from 1967 to 1987.)
His songs have been covered by many artists--including Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M., David Byrne, Greg Brown, Los Lobos, X, Bob Mould, Graham Parker, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, and David Gilmour.

"Personally, being somewhat envious of Richard's songwriting and guitar playing, it's somewhat satisfying he's not yet achieved household-name status. It serves him right for being so good." David Byrne
"Richard Thompson could say more in one line than I could in a whole song." John Mellencamp
"I thought the guitar playing on 'Shoot Out The Lights' was really really good. I was absolutely stunned when I heard it..." Lou Reed
Lastly, here's a pic of my wife Missy with the lead guitarist (Jody Porter) & drummer (Brian Young) of Fountains Of Wayne, a few hours before their show in Minneapolis on Wed Jun 13.
